ANNIVERSARY AND WEDDING PLATES Stoneware Plate Page Wedding and anniversary plates have been traditional gifts created by potters in eastern Pennsylvania to "document" and celebrate these important family events. There are two kinds of plates we make -- high-fired stoneware and traditional redware (shown on a separate page). Included are the names of bride and groom and wedding date. For anniversary plates, husband and wife are named with the number of years married and possibly the wedding date. Ordinarily the first names only are placed on a plate unless the last name is specifically requested. Two basic designs offered are the traditional "Tree of Life" and "Abundance." Slight design variations may occur from one plate to another since each one is individually created. There are two texts to choose from -- pictured in the examples. |
